Ultrasound

What is Therapeutic Ultrasound?

Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to stimulate healing in muscles, tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues beneath the surface of the skin. This modality is designed to enhance the body’s natural repair processes and support improved mobility.

The sound waves penetrate targeted tissues to create gentle thermal and mechanical effects that increase circulation, reduce inflammation, and improve tissue elasticity. These effects help decrease stiffness, relieve pain, and promote more efficient healing.

Conditions That May Benefit from Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound is beneficial for a variety of conditions, including:

  • Tendon and ligament injuries

  • Muscle strains and chronic muscle tension

  • Restricted range of motion

  • Scar tissue and post-surgical adhesions

  • Inflammation and localized swelling

  • Soft tissue pain
