Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

PRP.jpeg

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a same-day treatment that harnesses the natural healing power of your pet’s own blood platelets. PRP is often used in conjunction with surgery or as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to support recovery from injury, inflammation, or chronic joint conditions.

The concentrated platelets in PRP are rich in bioactive proteins, including growth factors and signaling molecules that play a vital role in tissue repair and regeneration. For treatment, the PRP is injected directly into the affected joint or tendon, where it helps reduce inflammation and promotes the body’s natural healing processes. Because PRP comes from the patient’s own blood, it provides a natural alternative to traditional anti-inflammatory medications such as NSAIDs.

PRP can be used to support injured joints and tendons and is often incorporated into a personalized treatment plan alongside other therapies, such as stem cell therapy, rehabilitation exercises, or hydrotherapy, to optimize recovery and overall mobility.

At Wheatland Animal Hospital, our team carefully evaluates each patient to determine whether PRP therapy is appropriate and how it can best be integrated into their rehabilitation plan. This targeted approach helps support tissue repair, improve comfort, and enhance long-term function.
